Expanite is hardening Monel & Inconel
- Technical insight
In connection with a global supplier to the pump and valve industries, Expanite® has matured hardening solutions for parts in austenitic nickel-chromium-based alloys such as Inconel 718 and nickel-based alloys as Monel K500.
In the case of both Inconel and Monel parts, the customer needed solutions to improve wear and galling resistance compared to current solutions – and to reduce cost and lead-time. By applying Expanite on Inconel 718, a surface hardness of approx. 1000HV is achieved while the outcome on Monel K500 is approx. 500HV – see attached figures.
If you’re sitting with a similar challenge – on Monel/Inconel or another alloy – please don’t hesitate to challenge Expanite®!
